It was a splendid day and my roommate had collected some change from returning empties to the depot. We walked to the cafe together and talked about how we are going to order food and coffee, but we were about to change our mind last minute, yet we ended up at Tim Horton's. One of the girl's who worked there asked my friend never to bring her there again, so I felt uncomfortable as all the visits I have had to Tim Horton's were sacred and held a lot of meaning to me, my classmates and family. We ordered the coffee quickly and ate sweet pastries outside and drank our one coffee that we shared. This was one of the worst visit I had, although staff was well presented and dressed and professional in preparing our order in a timely manner and courteous demeanor. In the past I always went to Tim Horton's to study, or discuss politics, current affairs and art with my friends, classmates and neighbours. The restaurant's I went to were always well maintained, and lit with Neon lighting just like this one. The interior design was always consistent and there was music playing in the background. This place is the hottest freshest fast food in Nanaimo. Honestly, no one else serves food this good anywhere else. My spinach burrito was out of this world. If there is a heaven, I hope to God Mon Petit Choux is the caterer. I'm pretty sure I could easily live out the rest of my natural life at a table in the corner - and easily slip into the next life completely satisfied. Why is it so divine, you ask? Well, for starters it's a French bakery and that's just about all you need to know. These people can do things with pastries that will make you forget you ever knew of the word diet - seriously look at the pictures! I started with the quiche, moved onto this divine pizza pastry, tried just about all of my friends pastries and finished off with a cappuccino. Then I went back to my hotel room and slept off the carb sins. I did not repent, nor do I ever plan to. One small word of warning for people with allergies though. The kitchen is not separate from the dining room and the air is filled with flour and sugar. Within 15 min of being inside my eyes were itchy and watering - but my companions who don't have allergies were fine. Oh, and we smelled like pastries for the rest of the day - which isn't necessarily a bad thing :-) Lire plus

Awesome home made noodles, won tons and spring rolls. I just happened upon this spot which is a little out of the way but the food was amazing. I had to ask if it was all hand made and John came out of the kitchen to chat. He was really kind and looked cool in his whites and chefs hat. He makes everything fresh on the premises. Although this establishment now serves Chinese food, to me it is not the crowning jewel of this eatery. It has truly stood the test of time. As a young boy, mom and dad would slip me a few bucks, I'd get on my bike and pedal up there, back when the original owner was working his own place, breading and seasoning by hand (hint: this was in the late 70's). This was THE weekly treat for me to take this delicious, crispy, one of a kind taste home in the basket of my bike and delve into a taste sensation. The "Colonel" got punk'd everytime, hands down. You do not go here to sit in, you don't go here to take in the "ambiance"... It was never, ever the way this place was supposed to be. This is a place you order, pick up and just go home to enjoy those juices that will grace your chin. you sit at home and enjoy it at home, because you know you'd feel just a *twinge* of guilt knowing that someone else nearby was not enjoying this delectable treat.
