Unprofessional

The place was about 60% full when at the time of our visit. I gave the food an average rating, because this site requires a rating, but since we didn't get to eat any of it... This is NOT about the food, which we never had a chance to try. It's a warning. Don't go there unless you have plenty of time, especially if it's more than half full. There were plenty of staff serving, and they were polite, but we misunderstood the warning that the waitress gave us: "Everything here is made fresh, all of the plates are pieces of art, and it comes out when it's ready", or words to that effect. I wasn't thinking about the implications of that statement particularly, but if I thought about it, I would suppose that it might buy them twenty minutes. Forty-five minutes after ordering and an unpleasant conversation with the bartender, we left. My companion was seated where the kitchen was visible, and observed to me after we left, that the single cook had obviously not done any mise en place (food prep ahead of time) at all. He pretty obviously started from scratch for every single order. Including cutting potatoes for the fries. This may or may not contribute to the quality of the food, although the method of doing basic prep ahead of time is good enough for restaurants with three Michelin stars... So, maybe it's great, but don't go in there for anything except a drink, unless you're not planning on doing anything else that evening, and you're not particularly hungry at the time you show up.

Good and casual

I actually forget exactly what we ordered but it was delicious and the appetizers were generous. Service was friendly and prompt. Relaxing ambience. Outdoor seating on the sidewalk and we sat just inside on high chairs.

We just hung out at Trio for a few hours. Good...

We just hung out at Trio for a few hours. Good music, really good food and a good selection of drinks. Everything was really quite good but the best thing really is the comfort of the place. We really had a good time and never felt rushed... We laughed about the "We Are Not A Restaurant" heading at the top of the food menu.... Their food couldn't be better!

Of course, it was the eleventh hour when I called and tried to make an evening reservation on Valentine’s Day. And, of course, like everyone else they were completely booked but they did call me back and I was so happy that they could squeeze us in. We enjoyed the best meal we could have hoped for. The house red (forget the varietal) was so perfectly pared with the shrimp appetizer, Gamberi Di Amaretto. And the chardonnay was lovely with the escargots. Our entrees were equally delicious and in spite of the fact that it was a very busy evening for Napoli’s, the food arrived at our table fresh and hot and the service was perfect. Water glasses were always topped up and we were never left unattended for long. The servers were very friendly and approachable and it all made for a fantastic dining experience. We also didn’t feel over-crowded in this ‘full-to-capacity’ restaurant. Our table provided plenty of elbow room and the table conversation was easy to hear in spite of people. We were very comfortable and happy to be enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. We can’t wait to have dinner at Napoli’s again. Lire plus
